After a successful career delivering babies in D.C., physician Jay Pastore turned his talent to delivering beauty to Rehoboth Beach
When Dr. Jay Pastore was up in D.C., he made a career of bringing life into the world. These days, the retired OB-GYN from Pa. can be found bringing a different kind of beauty into the world with his Gallery 50 in Rehoboth Beach.
“I grew up in Western Pennsylvania as part of a family of artists,” said Pastore, who launched Gallery 50 in 2007, “so I grew up constantly surrounded by art. I guess it just never left me.”
Arguably the most progressive and sophisticated gallery in the region, Gallery 50 regularly displays the work of 25 to 30 exceptional contemporary artists — both established and emerging — within the frequently rehung walls of its 1,400 sq. ft. space. With a different artist’s work showcased each month, gallery visitors are treated to the stirring creations of such regional artists as Lisa Tyson Ennis, Lee Wayne Mills, Constance Costigan, Michael Krausz and Gary Pearson in addition to a host of eclectic offerings in a wide array of media and styles, including photography.
