New Year. New beginnings. New you.
January always encourages change. New looks. New goals. Although change is good – I think it’s important to remember that a fresh look doesn’t necessarily have to mean a new look, and a fresh start toward a long-term goal doesn’t have to equal a brand new direction all together. Accomplishing “new” is a tall order – when sometimes just striving for “improved” is all that we need to jump start the New Year — and that’s much less intimidating.
Sometimes simply pausing can help us to find a fresh perspective. And just taking a step forward can catapult even the biggest procrastinator into action – propelling the person in the most drastic slump forward. This is all change but not deviation. This is moving toward achievement by means of a renewed plan. A fresh start. And one step is all it takes.
Back in the fall, we took a few steps forward toward a new direction with the magazines. We introduced the enhancements on the outside of the publications – a new matte cover design and a larger format. We also took a few steps toward our goals of departmentalizing the editorial inside the magazines – in an effort to connect with you even more.
At the start of this New Year, we are taking more steps toward this goal with the introduction of a few additional editorial departments – Mind, Body & Soul / Healthy
Living being one on the horizon. We’ve also taken precious feedback from our exhibitors and show attendees from the 2009 Luxury Living Show and are anxious to unveil some
of the enhancements planned for the 2010 show. We’ve been working very hard with the talented people at D3Corp to bring you the most comprehensive and informative
magazine website in our region. It’s now live – but we’re still adding new features behind the scenes to make it even more dynamic than it is currently. We hope you like it!
I think the goal for everyone this year should be to stop, assess and put a plan into action – a plan that entails integrity and reward – for your family, your friends and most importantly – for you. Reward yourself with the confidence to believe that you can affect change. Set your goals high and take the first step. It will feel great!
The ultimate goal: when you look back one year from now, you will certainly feel proud about all that you have accomplished. At that point, you’ll see that the “New You” will have emerged – without ever having abandoned the real you.
